The Mares
of Black Horse Farms

On these pages you will find our prized mares. We believe that our mares bring an invaluable component to our breeding program and our lives. They were considered to be 60% of the resulting foals by the Bedouins and we believe this to be true as well. These lovely ladies deserve their honor and due so we present them to you here in all their glory.

The Ladies:

MHA Seraffs Aria: 1998 Chestnut Mare.

Angel is the trustworthy mount and best friend of my almost 12 yr old daughter Lindsay. Lindsay has been riding her since she was 6 and Angel was 5 after only 2 months of trail riding for Angel as training. Her willing and patient temperament is one of the defining traits of her sire Khe Raffon. Currently Lindsay and Angel are taking a break from showing because Angel has a new baby at her side for 2009... see her on the foal page. They have had a lot of fun collecting ribbons for Lindsay's scrapbook and Lindsay's First High Point Award is one of her favorites! They also enjoy riding in parades, camping and trail riding together.

Angel brings to our program the richest of proven bloodlines with 3 lines to Khemosabi++++//, one thru Khari+++... as well as lines to the also well known El Hilal, *Serafix and Raffon. Very refined, Angel is the epitomy of Arabian breeding with the delicate strength the breed is reknown for. See Angel's complete pedigree here.

SC Tawnie: 1995 Pure Polish Bay Mare.

Tawnie is a typey, animated mare that is a point earner in Western pleasure, Costume, and Halter (see show record on Datasource) and is a Trail Champion as well as the NW WA AHA 2006 High Point Western Horse.

Tawnie had an exquisite filly by our Padron Psyche son 2007 (SOLD). This filly, Psyches Psylouette (Haley) was SHIH Mares 2 and Over ATH Champion and SHIH Mares 2 and Over OPEN Reserve Champion at the Hot To Trot Show in April 09 and went TOP 5 at the Region 5 Sport Horse Championships! Keep looking for her on the Class A and Sport Horse circuits, we know she's bound to make an impression.
Tawnie is currently on maternity leave with a foal by Cremello Paint stallion RPS Grand Golden Bar. This colt is already sold!
Tawnie brings to our program the wealth of proven Polish bloodlines with such notables as *Aladdin (2x) and *Probat (she is a granddaughter of both) as well as Ariston, *Cytrys, AAF Kaset+, Negatraz and many others. She also offers the type, refinement and fiery heart of the true Arabian. See her complete pedigree here.

$7500      AFire Fly D: 2004 Grey Mare.

Firefly is an own daughter of Bacardi Afire. From the Dana Arabians website: "Bacardi Afire represents the most successful sire line today ~ Afire Bey V ~ Huckleberry Bey++ ~ Bay El Bey. His dam line traces to Barbary++ with the tail female the legendary *Bufa. Talent, beauty, presence, trainability are all included in this one package. A gorgeous dark bay, Bacardi is extremely upright and graceful. Not only does Bacardi have a unique presence and beauty but a remarkable temperament which he passes on to his incredibly beautiful offspring.
Bacardi Afire was named by Arabian Horse World the #2 Nationwide Leading Junior Sire of Performance Horses and the #3 Nationwide Leading Junior Sire of Performance and Halter Horses. His foals have won numerous Class A, Regional, Sweepstakes and National awards in both Halter and Performance."

Firefly's dam Paige (Pistachio {*Salon} x G A Felima) was one of Dana Arabians top producing mares and is credited as the dam of many Champions including Shiloh's full sister Shannacey D. Shannacey D is one following in Paige's footsteps proving to be an outstanding producer of Champions!

Firefly's future is wide open and she is currently in foal to Psyches Apache for 2010 with a Sweepstakes Nominated, DAHA Futurity Yearling Halter Nominated, Sport Horse Nationals Payback eligible, Region 5 NW Performance Futurity eligible foal and she is soon beginning training. Keep checking back to see what the future holds for this exciting young mare. See her complete pedigree here.

BRO Desiree: 1993 Chestnut Mare      Desi is the new mare for my daughter Lindsay. Lindsay and her friends have been riding her on the trails this summer as well as starting to do some local showing with her this fall. She was previously owned by a gal who was showing her locally both Open and 4-H and went to State in 4-H on her. That young girl has long since grown and gone on to become a mother herself and so Desi had been sitting around not doing much when we bought her. We feel she'll be a great addition to our herd and our lives and look forward to many years together.

Desi's pedigree brings proven bloodlines with lines to Khemosabi++++//, thru Khabernet and Gai Parada+++/ thru Gai Phoenix as well as lines to the also well known Ferzon, Azraff, and *Bask. See Desi's complete pedigree here.

WR Apache Princess: 2000 Black 3/4 Arab Pinto Mare.

Maia is a predominantly Egyptian bred mare, heavily linebred Nazeer through such greats as *Rashad Ibn Nazeer (2x), *Bint Moniet El Nefous, and *Ansata Ibn Halima++. Her pedigree also includes a smattering of Russian and old Crabbet lines including Abu Farwa through Ga'zi.

Maia is currently in foal to our own Psyches Apache for a 2009 foal. This foal is SOLD.

We will be putting Maia back into training this fall and hope to show her Western Pleasure and Halter in the future.

See Maia's complete pedigree here.

MM ShyTheed: 1996 Bay 1/2 Polish Mare.

Shy is a tall, bog bodied mare with an exotic head that was shown a limited amount in Halter as a youngster and then went into Western Pleasure Training with Jeff Lee and Company. She came to me in foal, to my own stallion incidently and while we didn't get much chance to show her after purchasing her, she did well at the one show we did take her to, earning points in Halter, Western Pleasure and Trail. Shy is back in re-fresher training and I am really looking forward to getting her in the show ring this summer.

Shy's sire is the Pure Polish *Probat and her dam carries some of the royal old Crabbet and Desert Bred Egyptian lines up close. Shy brings to our program her type and size as well as the honest heart of the true Arabian. See her complete pedigree here.

$3200     Dared to Dream B: 2004 Black Mare.

Dream is Tawnie's 50% Polish, 50% Egyptian daughter who I have raised. Dream has been to her first Open shows In Hand and is always in the ribbons. Dream is well started under saddle with 60+ days of professional training and has been trail ridden which she really enjoys. She is doing wonderfully, she has a very trainable temperament and willing attitude, but since she's very smart she needs something to interest her to really engage.

Dream had a very nice filly by Psyches Apache in 2008 and "Diva" is also offered for sale...see her in the Salebarn. She is eligible for the Sport Horse National Payback program, is Breeders Sweepstakes Nominated and is DAHA Yearling Halter Futurity nominated. The Sport Horse Nationals Payback program rewards excellence in Arabian Sport Horse breeding through cash paybacks to outstanding offspring.     Jahmarra: 1991 Pure Polish Chestnut Mare.

Previous to my ownership she was ridden Competitive Trail and now she is being "borrowed" by my friend's for their children to ride and they are riding her bareback with a halter and lead around the fields at their home.

Jahmarra's pedigree reads like the history of JF Ward Arabians (Stanwood, WA) program. Her sire is Aristo Bask, a money earner on the track and a TOP TEN Endurance horse and her dam JF Firelady is the dam of many Class A show horses and show winners.
Jahmarra is SOLD! Congrats to Brenda Hazelwood and Family of Sudden Valley, WA! See her complete pedigree here.

    Joyful Eskapade: 2003 Bay Mare.

Joy is a beautiful 50% Polish, 37.5% Egyptian, 12.5% Crabbet mare who I bred and raised (See her birth here.)and she is for sale. She is currently in reining training with our trainer, Kim Sandberg.

Joy had a nice Bay Sabino colt in 2007 by Psyches Apache. This colt is already sold but you can purchase Joy with a discounted breeding to Psyches Apache for only $500 more! The foal would be eligible for the Sport Horse National Payback program as well as the Colorado Breeders Cup and to be Breeders Sweepstakes Nominated and will be DAHA Yearling Halter Futurity nominated.

Joy's pedigree is full of wonderful sires and dams and is a fantastic blend of the best of several strains.
